WHAT IS
MAGNETIC THERAPY?
Magnet therapy makes
use of the static magnetic fields produced by permanent magnets; the
related alternate medicine field of electromagnetic therapy involves the
application of electromagnetic waves to the patient. Magnet therapy is
based upon the idea that magnetic fields have the ability to help the body
heal or simply relieve pain. Over 200 years
ago the Chinese medics developed a manner of treating the body by using its
own energy, Wei Chi. These ancient medics believed that the Wei Chi, which
is the invisible energy that circulates beneath the skin, can be strengthen
against external pathogens such as cold, and illnesses thought the practice
of Acupuncture. So what does this have to do with magnetic therapy?
This therapy has it history based on the use of magnets on and around the
acupuncture points of your body. Even today modern doctors and
researches are continuing to study the benefits of magnetic therapy.
HOW DOES
IT WORK?
Magnetic
therapy works with the iron in the blood; it relaxes the capillary walls
that surround the muscles and connective tissues. This reaction increases
the blood flow to the area, which promotes healing. Although the studies on
magnetic therapy vary on the actual measure of increase in blood flow, the
one point that most doctors and researches agree on is the lack of negative
effect that this therapy has across the board. If you
decide that magnetic therapy is the choice for you we urge you to consult
your doctor. There are some circumstances which magnetic therapy may affect
you differently such as pregnancy, small babies or if you are wearing a
pacemaker, a defibrillator, an insulin pump or any other implanted
electronic-based medical device.
GAUSS RATING,
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Gauss rating is
a variable that describes the force of a magnet (the amount of magnetic
energy in its core). The higher this number, the more powerful the magnet.
For example, magnets on your fridge will have around 200 gauss rating,
while the ones used in therapy have between 200 and 10,000.
Size is also an
important factor in magnetic therapy. A larger magnet with a lower
gauss rating may be more powerful than a smaller magnet with a higher gauss
rating. Together the size and gauss rating are what give the magnetic the
penetration power; how far its magnetic field will get into your body.
If the penetration power is stronger then in theory the healing power
of the magnetic will more effective, being able to reach the source of the
pain or illness.

a cure for any disease, condition or disorder. Magnets should only be used
for pain when a medical practitioner has diagnosed the cause. Pain is a
warning signal that you should not ignore or try to treat yourself without
medical consultation. Magnetic therapy will work differently for each
individual. Magnetic devices of the proper strength, properly placed should
produce improvement, in various time frames, with varying results for each
person.
